For Canadians, the emotional desire to escape winter begins long before booking season. The first grey days of November trigger a collective craving for warmth, sunlight, and somewhere else making the idea of a sun destination feel instantly emotional and aspirational.
Tension
Launching new sun routes alone would not shift Porter’s perception from a regional airline to a carrier associated with warm weather getaways. In a category dominated by interchangeable travel advertising, Porter needed a culturally relevant moment that people would physically feel, share, and remember.
Idea
Academy conceived, produced, and executed a large scale experiential activation at Toronto’s Union Station transforming the Great Hall into an immersive Porter sun destination experience. Centered around a custom sun lamp installation, the activation blended physical experience, social storytelling, influencer content, branded postcards, QR driven booking, and contesting to create a highly shareable brand moment that repositioned Porter as a gateway to winter escape.
